Here is my favorite birthday memory:

My favorite birthday was probably when my husband was away at the Police Academy. Although my husband is ALMOST always working on my birthday which happens to come just 4 days after his birthday (he works on his birthday too) this time he was actually out of town and I wasn't able to see him at all on my Birthday. But when I came home that afternoon after picking up the kids from school there were several large boxes at my door. They contained  a birthday cake made out of flowers, balloons, chocolates and a giant teddy bear! With a card that said "Sorry he couldn't be there on my birthday". I felt so loved because he was so busy with the academy but took the time to arrange for the delivery so that I would know that he was thinking of me. Every year since he has sent me flowers, chocolates and balloons for my birthday. I treasured it because each year he picks the items out and has them specially delivered. Because my birthday is 8 days before Christmas it usually gets lost in the shuffle of things. So it's nice when some one takes the time out to recognize it. My mom also used to try and do that when I was growing up because she has it worse than me. Her birthday is on Christmas Eve, so everyone else usually has plans on that day and aren't able to celebrate with her.

Ethan likes "Cars" a lot so I wanted to make him a Lightning McQueen card that had a big smile on it like Ethan has! I also like personalizing cards, so I added his name to the front of the card!

Banners for Foster Kids Birthday Party's Blog Hop

Here is some info about the hop for our hostess Jennifer!

Hi! Welcome to Foster Kids Birthday Party's Blog Hop! Many of you may be familiar with CardMonkey's awesome banner hops for kids... I was so inspired by them that I wanted to find another opportunity to do good with my crafting. I happened upon a volunteer at Birthday Magic at a work event & followed up with them. They loved the idea of handmade birthday banners, so I put out the call and I was lucky to have 15 awesome crafters join me! So today you will get to see everyone's creations!

If you've never heard of Birthday Magic, you can see their site here -

http://www.volunteersac.org/birthdaymagic/
...
BirthdayMAGIC is a program of the Volunteer Center of Sacramento, which provides personalized monthly birthday parties to children currently living in Sacramento area homeless shelters, transitional living facilities, community programs or residential treatment centers.

The goal of BirthdayMAGIC is to brighten the lives of children by providing fun, meaningful and memorable birthday parties during what can be an awkward and challenging experience in their lives.

Each month, children living in these shelters will celebrate birthdays – through financial support, volunteer help and the BirthdayMAGIC program, these wonderful children will receive a birthday party thrown in their honor.

For more information on sponsoring a party please contact us at info@volunteersac.org or call (916) 567-3100.

I'm looking forward to dropping off all the amazing banners For them to use in the parties!
So now, sit back & enjoy all the great banners!!!
You should have started the hop at: Jennifer Restivo http://www.craftycardgallery.blogspot.com/ And if you've been following along, you should have come from:

SO for my banner I wanted to make an Elmo banner. I have been doing a lot of Sesame Street lately :)  I knew I would need several pages of paper to make my banner, so I decided to use my Imagine to design my own Elmo paper. So I layered some Elmo's and copied them on the page and added yellow balloons to the paper as well and then printed it out. I also printed out two big Elmo's to go on both sides. I wanted to add some shapes and primary colors banner and then stamped on the letters. I used the Jaded Blossom Fancy Topper Die to cut out the banner pieces.

Christmas Banners for Special Needs Kids Blog Hop Nov. 10th-12th

Christmas Banners for Special Needs Kids BLOG HOP, November 10-12, 2012

If you came from my daughter Rebecca's Blog, then you are in the right place! If not, head back to the beginning to Ellen's Blog (Card Monkey)!

Here is a beautiful write up by Ellen:

"In the eyes of children, we find the joy of Christmas. In their hearts, we find its meaning."

As joyous as Christmas is for most families, for some, their holidays are filled with worry, medical treatments and tests, and pain -- for their child must be hospitalized or she or he needs long-term care rather than being home with their families.

For these kids, Santa doesn't slip down a chimney but rather, often comes in the guise of community volunteers who help make the season bright.

This is the second Christmas season that our own band of dedicated and loving paper crafters have come together to make Holiday banners for children who are too sick to be home for the holidays. Welcome to the Christmas Banners for Special Needs Kids blog hop!

I am especially pleased that this year, not only have our numbers of generous crafters swelled so our Hop is over three full days, but also, that we have partnered with another great cause and recipient of our banners!

I love the new Christmas stack from DCWV and wanted to use it for this banner and I thought the kids would love to see some Sesame Street characters on it! I also wanted to make two matching Christmas cards to send along with it! :)

Please leave a comment below to enter to win a $5 Gift Certificate to Jaded Blossom ! (My favorite place to buy favor making stamps and supplies) One lucky winner will be chosen using Random.org, you will have until 11/13 to enter!

By teaming up with Madison Womack's I FEEL THE LOVE PROJECT, the banners our crafters have handmade will be going to the hospitalized children at Children's Hospital Central California!

First, let me show you the banner I made for today's post. I'll be sending this to Madison and the children at CHCC who are benefiting from the I Feel the Love project in December:

and here are my cards that I made to match that I will be sending along with the banners!

Supplies:
DCVW- The Evergreen Stack

Zig Two way glue pen
Girl's Make-Up Party and Sesame Street Font Cartridge

Now, have I inspired you to make and donate your own banner or a Christmas card or two to the I Feel the Love Project? I hope so! Because if you will, you'll be entered into a drawing to win my:

CARDMONKEY's SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
Super-Fantastic Gift Basket
Throughout the month of December, I'll be adding crafty goodness to this basket so that it will be over-flowing and ripe and ready for under your tree. I'll be picking the winner on Christmas Eve, announcing the winner on Christmas Day, and if you win, you'll have the basket in your hands by New Year's Day!!
Stay tuned to the CardMonkey blog over the next few weeks leading up to the drawing, as I'll be posting the contents of the basket as they mount.

NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME?? You can still win great blog candy just by being here and commenting on as many banner makers' blogs over the course of the next three days.
